I Am The Mighty Jungulator produce their music and visuals with their own proprietory software. The audio is processed by the I Am The Mighty Jungulator application, the visuals by its sister program Derek and Norma olden. A hybrid of both these pieces of software has been developed in association with Futurelab, forming the core of an audio visual performance system for schools. The software has been demonstrated and exhibited at BETTS, Cybersonica, The Royal Festival hall and the Rotterdam film festival.
I Am The Mighty Jungulator and Derek And Norma Olden are available as shareware downloads, and have also been available as a cover-mounted CD with DJ magazine
The software has also been used as the basis for installations, site-specific art work, performance and bespoke products...the BBC used the system as the core of an interactive multispeaker traveling exhibition piece, the sound pod, for its show "The Life of Mammals". Later this system was updated to provide a permanent installation in the BBC offices showcasing their wildlife sound library.
The self generative aspects of the software have been utilised in several high profile projects. Several self generative installations were presented at Cybersonica 05, IATMJ software has formed the backbone of an ongoing programme of generative community portraits and we are currently working towards the completion of a long-term project, with money awarded by the Arts Council of Great Britain, to produce an online streaming, self generative audio/video mix that can be added to by others and viewed by anyone with a computer and an internet connection (see Culture Crunch).
Self generative remixes have been developed using the software for artists such as Laura B, My Two Toms and War Against Sleep.
A quadraphonic version of the Jungulator has been developed and showcased with the London Philharmonia at an event entitled Re-imagining Shostakovich at Bristols Colston Hall, and the live sampling generative Jungulator (the Record Jungulator) has formed the basis of all of our recent performances since Bath International Music festival 06.
